The list of Maratha Peshwas is as follows:
- Balaji Vishwanath (1713-1720) – The first Peshwa of the Maratha Empire, who organized the Maratha administration.
- Baji Rao I (1720-1740) – A great warrior and strategist who led several successful military campaigns.
- Balaji Baji Rao (Nana Saheb) (1740-1761) – The Peshwa during the time of the Third Battle of Panipat.
- Madhav Rao I (1761-1772) – Reorganized the Maratha Empire after the Panipat war.
- Narayan Rao (1772-1773) – Assassinated at a young age.
- Raghunath Rao (Raghoba) (1773-1774, disputed) – Was not legally recognized as a Peshwa.
- Madhav Rao II (1774-1796) – Became Peshwa as a child, but real power remained with other ministers.
- Baji Rao II (1796-1802) – The last independent Peshwa, who was later defeated by the British.
- Baji Rao II (1802-1818, under British protection) – After defeat by the British in 1818, the Peshwa rule ended.
- After this, the power of the Maratha Peshwas came to an end, and British rule was established.
